On February 24. 2022 the Russian full-scale war on Ukraine started. This winter, as Russia tries to freeze Ukrainians to submission, we are entering its fifth year. We consider it as our duty to support Ukrainian resistance, and we find it important for anyone outside Ukraine to learn from Ukrainian anarchists and anti-authoritarians, who have built the most effective, powerful and interconnected anti-authoritarian network in Europe. On 24.2.2026 we invite you to the screening of the film Anti-Authoritarians at War* and to the lecture by a member of Solidarity Collectives.
“As we enter the fifth year of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the war continues to devastate our communities. This winter, millions face relentless shelling while surviving weeks without electricity, heating, and sometimes even water. Meanwhile, our comrades keep fighting on the front line in extreme conditions, with many wounded and others losing their lives. We need your solidarity to strengthen Ukrainian anti authoritarian resistance against Russian imperialism.”
—Solidarity Collectives (from Call to Action 2026)
“The last time the tactic of terror through winter cold was used was by the same Russia during its two military campaigns against Chechnya. At that time, the Russian army also deprived towns and cities of heating and electricity in order to demoralize the population and accelerate capitulation. Earlier, terror through winter cold was used by Nazi Germany against the civilian population of besieged Leningrad… I still cannot believe something similar is now being done to my native Kyiv.”

*Anti-Authoritarians at War is a documentary by Manon Boltansky and Nico Dix, was filmed in summer 2024 in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Izium. It follows the people behind the Solidarity Collectives, both those at the forefront and those working behind the scenes. The film illustrates how people make everyday decisions under extreme pressure and how grassroots, non-hierarchical organizing persists even during war. The film looks at difficult choices, organizing under fire, and solidarity that goes beyond borders.
*Solidarity Collectives is a group of Ukrainian anarchists and anti-authoritarians united in 2022 to support their comrades fighting against Russian imperial aggression in Ukraine and to help people affected by the war. Since then, they have built a mutual aid network for the anti-authoritarian movement in Ukraine.
